摘要
Body constitution is a core concept in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It is used to classify individuals based on their physiological features, which plays an important role in guiding health maintenance and disease prevention. Nevertheless, the classification used in clinical situations often lacks the level of objectivity and consistency required for research purposes. This, therefore, has prompted the development of standardized questionnaires to assess body constitution. The Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire (CCMQ) consists of 60 items that classify body constitutions into nine types, including gentleness, Qi-deficiency, Yang-deficiency, Yin-deficiency, phlegm-wetness, wetness-heat, blood-stasis, Qi-depression, and special diathesis. The scoring algorithm of the CCMQ is tedious and can be prone-to-error. Here, we present an algorithm written for SAS and SPSS to simplify the calculation of CCMQ. It is hoped that the provision of our algorithm can help to improve the consistency and accuracy of the scoring of CCMQ, and thereby further facilitate its implementation in future research of TCM body constitution.
